Hon Bernard Ahiafor, the Member of Parliament for Akatsi South and Ranking Member of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs of Parliament has taken a swipe at the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Mr. Godfred Dame Yeboah for engaging in what he described as unethical conduct for attempting to coerce a witness to subvert justice.

According to him, the allegation by the third accused person who is standing trial together with the Minority Leader, Dr Ato Forson that the Attorney General called him to testify and implicate the Minority leader, is most unfortunate.

In a write-up circulating in social media and sighted by EXPRESSNEWSGHAN, on Thursday, May 23, Hon Ahiafor said such conduct by the Attorney indicates he is not fit to be a lawyer nor to talk of been an Attorney General for a state.

Below is the Full Write-up of Bernard Ahiafor

My heart bleeds for Ghana if indeed this is true. Absolutely, the Attorney General and Minister for Justice is involved in persecution instead of prosecution.

It is least expected that the Attorney General and Minister for Justice invested with the constitutional power under article 88 of the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana to be responsible for all civil and criminal cases in the Republic. In short, he is supposed to be in charge of justice and reasonably expected to do justice to all manner of people.

It is very unfathomable to hear from a witness on oaths that the Attorney General and Minister for Justice would reach out to an accused person in the witness box trying to persuade, influence and coerce him to give false testimony to implicate the first accused person to ground his conviction.

In fact, this is a clear case of travesty of justice and such a person does not deserve to be a lawyer, let alone the Attorney General and Minister responsible for Justice. This is so unethical and he must bow down his head in shame and remain the most shameful Attorney General in the history of Ghana.
