As part of an effort to keep the young girls more hygienic during their menstrual cycles, the Member of Parliament for North Dayi in the Volta Region, Hon Jocelyn Tetteh has donated over 2000 sanitary pads to young girls within the constituency.

The MP is passionate about the wellbeing of girl children, especially their comfort, health, and education, and made the donation to mark the World Menstrual Hygiene Day.

Ms Tetteh also donated some exercises books to the young female students as part of her commitment to improve quality education in the constituency.

Most of the beneficiaries were students from 36 Junior High Schools within the North Dayi District and other girls.

Some of the students were selected educated by Nurses and Midwiferies to be Ambassadors of Menstrual Hygiene’s within their schools and communities as part of a consciousness campaign to improve their menstrual hygiene cycles.

In her remarks to donate the items, Ms  Tetteh  admonished the students to take the ambassadorial privileges seriously, as she would work closely with them to giving support to those girls in the schools and communities.

She also entreated the parents of the young girls to prioritise their menstrual needs and be there for them by teaching them on how to take care of themselves.

To curb teenage pregnancy, the Hon. MP has cautioned the girls against hanging out with adolescent boys and men, even into late nights.

” If you can do your parts and keep yourselves from teenage pregnancies and focus on your education, I will always be there for you by supporting your educational needs even as they go to SHS”, she stated.

The beneficiary young girls were full of joy after receiving packs of sanitary pads by the MP and prayed to God for good health so she continues the good works.

Officers from the Education Directorate of the North Dayi District office of the Ghana Education Services (GES) were present to grace the program, which was held at the Anfoega RC Park.
