Speaker Bagbin visits his Ivorian Counterpart, Bictogo
— Deepens Ghana, Cote D’ivoire Relations
Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Kingsford Sumana has paid an official state visit to his counterpart of Cote d’ Voire National Assembly, Hon Adama Bictogo.
The meeting was an official invitation of the President of the National Assembly of Cote d’Ivoire to the Ghanaian Speaker for bilateral cooperation between the two legislative Houses.
The two-day visit, June 4th to 5th, was used to discuss bilateral issues and focusing on the warm and friendly relations between the two parliaments and their respective countries.
The official languages barrier of the two nations remained a significant challenged, as it affect smooth communications, especially among officials of this nature.
Ghana and Ivory Coast has a long standing bilateral relations, since pre-colonial eras as neighbour, but the official languages of English and French separated them as a result of the partition of Africa at the Berlin conference and declaration in 1884.
Despite the recent sea territorial boundaries dispute which ended up at the Law of the Seat Court at the Huge, the two nations remained cordial and transact bilateral issues.
