Fiifi Kwetey, the General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has addressed claims that former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu has been sidelined within the party.

According to him, the decision to exclude Members of Parliament from the party’s national campaign team is intentional, allowing MPs to focus on their parliamentary duties.

“Have you seen any MP on the campaign team? We want the MPs to concentrate. I’ve been an MP before, and I would never have understood why someone would take me from my constituency and put me in the national campaign. That would have been ill-thought-of,” Kwetey stated.

He emphasized that MPs’ primary responsibility is to concentrate on their constituencies, ensuring they deliver results locally and potentially support neighbouring constituencies and their region as a whole.

Kwetey made these comments on TV3’s HOT Issues on Sunday, June 30, 2024, monitored by expressnewsghana.

He also dismissed rumours of disunity within the NDC, attributing them to the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) desperation and lack of a compelling message for the 2024 elections.
