MP for Kintampo North Honour as Best Male Minority MP for Year 2023
Member of Parliament for Kintampo North in the Bono East Region, Hon. Joseph Kwame Kumah, has received an award as the Best Male Minority MP of the Year 2023. This award, presented by FAKS Investigative Services, was based on detailed investigations into the performance of all 137 male minority MPs across the country.
The Kintampo North MP, along with North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and North Dayi MP Jocelyn Tetteh, were recognized as the best minority MPs for 2023.
The awards celebrate MPs who have actively worked with underrepresented and disadvantaged communities in their constituencies over the past year.
Hon. Joseph Kumah, who entered parliament in 2021 after winning the Kintampo North seat in the December 2020 general elections, has been working closely with the chiefs and people of his constituency, which comprises over 575 communities, including more than 222 farming communities.
Expressing his appreciation to FAKS Investigative Services for the recognition, Hon. Kumah said, “This award motivates me to do more for my people. I feel a special responsibility to champion the interests of my people, especially those on the islands. I am determined to do things differently, using my platform as a Member of Parliament to bring the necessary development to reduce the challenges facing my people,” he said.
Hon. Kumah recounted some of the developmental projects he has successfully executed for the people, particularly in deprived and hard-to-reach communities. These include reshaping and gravelling of bad roads, building health facilities (mostly CHPS compounds), and providing scholarships to needy schoolchildren, erecting pavilions for remote communities, and supporting persons with disabilities, among others. He promised to continue working hard to justify the confidence reposed in him as an MP and to ensure that his constituents receive their fair share of the national resources.
Hon. Kumah dedicated the award to his constituents, the NDC party and executives, and his family and friends who have remained faithful and supportive throughout his tenure.
The MP is one of the best-performing minority MPs highlights his contributions to the development of his constituency and his parliamentary efforts, as acknowledged by FAKS Investigative Services.
The lead investigator of FAKS Investigative Services, Fred Sarpong, stated that Hon. Kumah was selected for the award after a thorough investigation into his work both in parliament and in his constituency. FAKS Investigative Services, a Ghanaian company established in 2012, provides a range of services including research, debt collection, background investigations, activity checks, employee background checks, and insurance claims. The company is recognized for its quality services and represents numerous firms.
He said the assessment for this award considered the development in the MPs’ constituencies, their parliamentary work, and feedback from their constituents. The survey, conducted between January to June 2023, was part of the 12th edition of FAKS’s Performance of Ministers project.
