Stop Spreading Falsehoods on Secret Recruitment –Majority Fires Back at Minority
The Majority in Parliament has accused the Minority caucus of stirring up political tension with its allegations of secret recruitment into the security services.
Earlier, the Minority threatened to summon the Interior Minister to the House over claims of recruiting 11,000 personnel from a backlog of applicants without following due process.
However, the First Deputy Majority Whip, Habib Iddrisu, addressing journalists, dismissed these allegations as untrue.
According to Iddrisu, who is also the Member of Parliament for Tolon, there has been no clearance for the Interior Ministry to conduct recruitment into the security services, contrary to the Minority’s claims.
Iddrisu explained that the recruitment process is the sole responsibility of the individual security institutions, such as the Police, Immigration, Customs, and Fire Services, and not the Interior Ministry.
He also denied allegations of allocating 30 recruitment slots to each of the 275 NPP Parliamentary candidates, describing the claims as false.
Iddrisu urged Ghanaians to disregard the allegations by the Minority, stating that they are intended to cause confusion and spread misinformation.
