Afenyo-Markin Sworn In As Board Chairman for ECG
On Wednesday, July 17, the Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, was officially sworn in as the Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
His inauguration was conducted by the outgoing Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
The First Deputy Majority Whip and MP for Tolon, Habib Iddrisu was equally sworn in as a member of the ECG Board.
Both took the Oath of Office and the Oath of Secrecy to work to improve the ECG and its operations in providing lights to consumers.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Afenyo-Markin highlighted the significant improvements the government has made in electricity provision.
However, he emphasized the importance of addressing the challenges confronting the power distributor to ensure continued progress and reliability in power distribution in Ghana.

Mr. Afenyo-Markin expressed his dedication to driving thoughtful reforms and innovation within ECG. He stressed the need for strategic changes to overcome existing obstacles and improve the company’s efficiency and effectiveness.
Following the inauguration, he reiterated his commitment on Facebook, commending the government’s efforts in enhancing electricity provision and emphasizing the necessity for further advancements to meet the growing demands and expectations of the public.
As the new Board Chairman of ECG, Mr. Afenyo-Markin is committed to building on the foundation laid by his predecessors. His focus will be on sustainable improvements and ensuring a stable and reliable electricity supply for all Ghanaians.
