NDC Has a Superior Record on Roads, Stop the Lies about 12,830 Km – Adjei Mensah tells NPP
Hon Isaac Adjei Mensah, a former Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways and the Ranking Member of the Select Committee on Roads and Transport, has disputed claims made by President Akufo-Addo regarding the construction of 12,830 kilometers of road during his administration.
Adjei Mensah labeled the claim as erroneous and a deceptive tactic aimed at gaining favour ahead of the 2024 general elections.
During the commissioning of the 40.4km Bechem-Techimantia-Akomadan road in the Ahafo Region, President Akufo-Addo praised the expansion and improvement of the country’s road network under his leadership, asserting that a total of 12,830 kilometers of road, including six interchanges, have been completed, with more projects underway and expected to be finished by 2025.
In an interview with EXPRESSNEWSGHANA on July 19, Adjei Mensah refuted these assertions, calling the President’s achievements in the road sector insufficient and misleading. He stated that the NPP administration’s claimed extension of the road network to 94,203.17km is provisional and unverified.
According to him, from 2017 to 2024, the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration has constructed 6,977 kilometers of road, not the claimed 12,830 kilometers.
He also claimed that former President John Mahama outperformed the current administration in the road sector during his term, constructing a total of 8,118 kilometers of road.
Adjei Mensah expressed confidence that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will win the upcoming December 7 elections and complete all the abandoned road projects, including the unfinished interchanges
