NPP Poised to Retain Yunyoo Parliamentary Seat – Oscar Liwaal Assures
The Member of Parliament for Yunyoo constituency in the North East Region, Hon. Oscar Liwaal, has stated his determination to consolidate the gains made in the 2020 elections by winning the 2024 parliamentary elections with “a very wide margin.”
Mr. Liwaal, who went unopposed as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) aspirant for the constituency, explained that the massive infrastructure development and numerous social intervention policies implemented by the current government have significantly improved livelihoods, making Yunyoo a model constituency for learning.
Mr. Liwaal made these remarks during an interview with EXPRESSNEWSGHANA, in parliament on Monday, July 22, 2024, following a recent tour of the area by the NPP Presidential candidate for the 2024 election, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to him, Yunyoo is gradually becoming the stronghold of the NPP in the region, and “we are determined by the kind grace of God to consolidate the gains made in 2020 and win this time by an even wider margin.”
“I can tell you without doubt that the policies implemented by the Akufo-Addo government, such as Free Senior High School Education, Planting for Food and Jobs, and massive infrastructure development in various sectors in my constituency, have made the seat a done deal for the NPP,” he stressed.
The MP noted that the people of Yunyoo can now see the difference between the NPP and the NDC (National Democratic Congress), and his performance over the past four years is evident in every community of the constituency.
He estimated that the constituency has received its fair share of the national cake under his leadership as MP, compared to the era of the NDC, and pledged to work hard with the party leadership in the area to not only retain the parliamentary seat but also ensure a presidential election victory to break the eight and continue the good works.
“I can say without doubt that the government and I have done enough, and the work will speak on December 7. We have had more beneficiaries of many projects as stated, and the youth are not left out. MASLOC loans for women to facilitate their businesses are equally appreciated by the constituents,” he stated.
Apart from road works, he mentioned that about 40 communities in the area are currently benefiting from the Rural Electrification Projects.
On health, water, and sanitation, the MP stated that about 50 boreholes are being drilled across various communities, while several CHPS Compounds and clinics are being constructed.
Regarding education, Mr. Liwaal stated that several school blocks are being provided, and plans are far advanced for the construction of other unit storey classroom blocks. Additionally, students from the constituency are benefiting from the government’s Free Senior High School policy.
