Dr Bawumia, NPP Stalwarts Join Sammi Awuku Ofie Mega Walk
The Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party( NPP), Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia and a host of NPP stalwarts joined the Akuapem North Parliamentary Candidate(PC) and Director General of the National Lottery Authority, Sammi Awuku to organize the Ofie Mega Walk.
The event was an avenue to officially launch the campaign of the Akuapem North PC.
The 6-kilometer walk, which started at about 6:30 in the morning at Mamfe round about proceeded through Amanokrom and ended at Mampong Coronation Park where the Vice President, PC and other party figures addressed the thousands of party supporters who participated in the walk.
It was attended by Eastern Regional chairmen, constituency executives, Parliamentary Candidates, Eastern Region Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives, Popular Musicians and Celebrities including Asamoah Gyan, former black stars captain and other party bigwigs.
Addressing the teeming supporters, Dr. Bawumia outlined the transformational policies the party has rolled out such as the Ghana Card, Medical drones, Free SHS, Zongo Development Fund, Mobile Money interoperability among others.
He said as against the pessimistic position of the opposition New Democratic Congress on most of these policies, he believes all the transformational policy propositions he has outlined to roll out upon assumption of office were possible and implementable with mindset possibility.
He said he was bent on taking Ghana to the next level of modern development given the opportunity come December 7, 2024 and urged the people to vote massively for him.
He said with the digitalization age, a system would be rolled out where passport applicants would no longer fill forms using the Ghana Card which contains all their biological details.
About one million youth, according to him, would be trained with digital skills with basic literacy requirements to enable them work from home globally.
The Flagbearer said he has plans of introducing 2000 mega watts solar energy to Ghana’s energy generation mix which would reduce the cost of energy by 50percent.
He called on the people to give him the chance to transform Ghana’s development landscape.
On his part, Sammi Awuku said this year’s polls was a contest between Ghana’s past and her future.
He outlined some of the social policies of the NPP which has been its tradition and prevailed on the people to offer their vote faithfully on polling day.
He urged the people to maintain the NPP in power, adding that it was a party that has the people’s interest at heart, formulating sustainable social policies to improve the living conditions of the people anytime it was in power.
Mr. Awuku said under Former President Kuffour there was Free Maternal Health care adding that the same children born in that era are the first beneficiaries of the Free SHS policy, underscoring the hallmark of a party that visionary.
He said a vote for the major opposition leader was a cancellation of the Free SHS and urged the people to refrain from that course of action.
He admonished the supporters and party faithfuls to go out in their numbers and sell the party’s message to the people since some people might not have heard the message.
