Krachi West MP, Hon. Helen Adjoa Ntoso, has pledged her unwavering commitment to her constituents as she seeks a fourth term in Parliament.

As a seasoned politician with decades of experience, she emphasized her dedication to improving the lives of her people, particularly in areas where government support has been lacking.

In an interview with ExpressNewsGhana, Hon Helen Ntoso reflected on her long-standing political journey, which began in 1996 when she first contested in Nkwanta South.

She highlighted her resilience and determination, stating, “I don’t care about the waves or storms. As a Christian, I believe in the power and sound mind given by God, and I am led by the Holy Spirit in all I do.” She added that her faith guides her decisions, including her approach to elections.

The Former Volta Regional Minister pointed to her recent efforts in providing clean water to her constituency, which she believes will contribute to her re-election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“In the past six months, I’ve overseen the drilling of 51 boreholes. Despite being near the lake, the water supply has been inconsistent, forcing many to drink from the lake, leading to a high incidence of typhoid. These boreholes are now providing clean water, and the people are very happy,” she said.

In addition to her work on water projects, Helen Ntoso has made significant strides in education and healthcare in Krachi West.

She has constructed pavilions for schools, registered students for exams, and funded various educational initiatives, spending over GHC 41,000 to help students re-sit their exams.

The female lawmaker has also supported local healthcare facilities by building small health posts and providing essential items.

As Chairperson of the Gender and Social Protection Committee in Parliament, Helen Ntoso emphasized her role in addressing gaps left by the government and local assemblies.

“I’ve been able to construct access roads to remote communities and provide services that the assembly should be doing. The people trust me because they see the hard work I’m doing,” she remarked.

Looking ahead to the 2024 elections, Helen Ntoso expressed confidence in her chances of re-election, dismissing her opponent’s last-minute promises of loans to voters.

“They should take the money; it’s like Father Christmas giving out gifts. But I am winning, and I’m winning big,” she declared.

Regarding the upcoming parliamentary recall on Tuesday, the Krachi West MP acknowledged the inconvenience but stressed the importance of fulfilling her duties.

“It’s unfortunate to be called back during recess, especially when our allowances haven’t been paid. But as it’s a parliamentary duty, we are compelled to come. We will adapt to whatever changes are necessary,” she added.
