The Member of Parliament for Krachi West, Hon Helen Adjoa Ntoso, has hailed the 2024 manifesto of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a transformative blueprint designed to reset Ghana on the path to development.

She described the manifesto as one of the most comprehensive and impactful she has seen since the inception of the Fourth Republic.

“This manifesto is truly remarkable. It addresses critical areas, particularly women’s affairs and gender equity. The proposal to establish a women’s bank, where women can easily access loans for their businesses or even family activities, is commendable,” Hon Ntoso stated.

Hon Ntoso also highlighted the NDC’s ambitious infrastructure plans, dubbed “The Big Push,” spearheaded by former President John Dramani Mahama.

“It’s amazing what Mahama intends to do when elected. For instance, the plan for a 24-hour ferry service is particularly vital for people in my area, where crossing the lake after hours is currently impossible,” she indicated.

She emphasized the security benefits of the 24-hour economy, which would involve recruiting more security personnel to protect business people who frequently travel at night. This, she believes, would reduce incidents of armed robbery and create job opportunities for the youth.

The MP further criticized the current government for abandoning educational projects such as the E-block schools initiated by the previous NDC administration.

“In my constituency, the lack of progress on these projects has been a major point of contention. If the NDC wins, we will complete these E-blocks, ensuring better educational facilities for our children,” she asserted.

Hon Ntoso expressed concern over the challenges posed by the current free education policy, particularly the rise in teenage pregnancies due to inadequate support for girls in rural areas.

She believes that the NDC’s manifesto offers practical solutions to these issues.

Turning her attention to the current administration, Hon Ntoso criticized the government’s handling of judgment debts, accusing them of worsening the situation since taking office in 2017.

She questioned the moral authority of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to speak on this issue, given their record.

Manifesto launching

The Former Volta Regional Minister under the previous John Mahama led NDC administration, dismissed any potential debate between former President Mahama and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbear, Dr Mohamudu Bawumia as unnecessary.

“After watching his recent media interactions, it’s clear that debating Dr Bawumia would be a waste of time. Mahama’s policies and experience far outmatch what Bawumia have to offer,” Hon Ntoso maintained.

She therefore urged Ghanaians to support the NDC in the upcoming elections, emphasizing that the party’s manifesto is the key to reversing the setbacks Ghana has experienced in recent years.
