Alhaji Abdul-Sheriff Nasiru, a prominent member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a passionate call to Ghanaians to vote for the NDC in the 2024 general elections, warning that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has driven the country towards collapse.

Speaking in an interview with Express News Ghana, Alhaji Sheriff emphasized that the NDC, led by former President John Dramani Mahama, is Ghana’s only hope to restore stability and prosperity.

Alhaji Sheriff, who is currently on the campaign trail with the NDC flagbearer, accused the Akufo-Addo government of failing to manage the country’s economy, citing rampant illegal mining (galamsey) and worsening economic hardships as clear indicators of their incompetence.

“Our nation is at a breaking point, and the NDC must step in to save it from total collapse. The NPP government has become a lame duck, with no control over the challenges facing the country,” he stated.

He urged NDC members, parliamentary candidates, and former government officials to return to their constituencies and mobilize voters ahead of the December 7, 2024, elections.

Alhaji Sheriff assured that the NDC is putting in place all necessary measures to ensure that every vote is counted, promising a government focused on building a robust, 24-hour economy devoid of slogans and unfulfilled promises.

“Our laws must be obeyed, our rules followed, and we must govern with the principles of probity and accountability to restore confidence in our people,” he added.

Alhaji Sheriff also emphasized the need to decentralize power, noting that too much authority has been concentrated at the center for too long. “John Mahama is ready and willing to rescue this country from poverty, mismanagement, and corruption,” he said.

Calling on all NDC supporters and Ghanaians who care about the nation’s development to rally behind Mahama, Alhaji Sheriff stressed the importance of collective leadership in achieving victory.

“No single individual can drive this change; it must be a collective effort. That is what will give us victory,” he said.

He concluded by highlighting the wealth of experience and knowledge that Mahama brings to the table, positioning the NDC as the only party capable of leading Ghana out of the current crises.

“The fight to reclaim what rightfully belongs to Ghanaians has begun,” Alhaji Sheriff declared, urging the nation to stand united behind the NDC’s mission to restore democracy, end hunger, and provide jobs and security for all.
