The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, is expected to address the media on recent developments in the country’s legislative house .

This comes after Parliament was recently adjourned sine die due to issues brought before the Supreme Court that sought to stop Parliament from exercising its authority on the constitution.

The Speaker’s media address is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

The Public Affairs Division of Parliament has issued a statement and media flyer inviting the media to this address, where the Speaker aims to clear up any issues happening in the country’s legislative house.

The recent developments in Parliament and the Supreme Court of Ghana seem to be related to a constitutional matter.

The Supreme Court had halted the Speaker’s ruling regarding the declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant .

This led to a debate about the independence of Parliament and the role of the judiciary in Ghana’s democratic system.
