“We Will Uphold the People’s Will” – Jean Mensa Assures Ghanaians
The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to ensuring the integrity of Ghana’s electoral process, emphasizing that the will of the people remains paramount.
Speaking at a press conference on December 8, Mensa assured Ghanaians that the EC has fulfilled its constitutional mandate with transparency and impartiality.
“We will uphold the people’s will,” Mensa stated. “The election process was conducted in accordance with the highest standards of integrity, and the results to be announced will reflect the true choice of the Ghanaian electorate.”
Her remarks came after John Dramani Mahama’s victory as President-Elect and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) securing an absolute majority in parliament.
Mensa congratulated all stakeholders for their role in ensuring a peaceful and credible election process. She also addressed concerns raised during the collation process, acknowledging the challenges faced but reaffirming the EC’s resolve to uphold democratic principles.
Ghana’s 2024 elections have been widely praised for their peaceful conduct, further cementing the nation’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa.
Jean Mensa’s assurance of upholding the people will reinforce the importance of trust and integrity in the country’s democratic institutions.
