Farmers and Fishermen Welcome President -Elect: Call for Measures to Achieving Food Security, Export
The Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen have congratulated President-Elect John Dramani Mahama on his success in the 2024 general election and have called on him to prioritize agriculture to achieve food security.
The association is however calling on the President-elect to put appropriate measures such as adequate investment in agriculture in place to ensure that the sector is given a facelift and also to boost productivity.
Farmers and Fishermen Association also call for adequate investment in agricultural sector to make Ghana food sufficient and have surplus for export.
Speaking to journalists in Accra, The General Secretary of the Ghana National Farmers & Fishermen the new president to use members who have on their own worked so hard to become national best farmers and recognized by the state.
The Association insists Ghana can produce enough with right measures, investment to feed its neighbours.
Lemuel Quarshie Martey also called for a conscious effort in ending importation of food by making agriculture and its activities motivating enough for the young Ghanaian who are willing to go into farming.
