The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Professional Forum has honoured Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Bagbin, for his exceptional leadership and contributions to Ghana’s democratic development.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Sam P. Yalley, leader of the Pro-forum, praised Speaker Bagbin’s extensive credentials, highlighting his role as a founding member of the group and his dedication to the NDC’s principles.

Yalley emphasized Bagbin’s remarkable contributions to the party’s ideals and democracy, calling for his retention to further Ghana’s progress.¹

In his acceptance speech, Alban Bagbin expressed gratitude to the Proforum and commended their dedication to the NDC and Ghana’s democratic journey.

He praised the group’s critical role in supporting the party’s agenda and advancing the nation’s progress.

Bagbin reflected on the challenges faced by the current hung Parliament, emphasizing the need for patriotism, collaboration, and consensus-building.

He reiterated Parliament’s critical role in fostering accountability, passing essential legislation, and safeguarding the nation’s interests.

The Speaker encouraged the NDC to stay committed to its “resetting agenda” aimed at repositioning the country for development and progress.

“With the NDC at the helm of affairs, Ghanaians will smile again,” he stated optimistically.

This recognition reaffirms Bagbin’s pivotal role in shaping the legislative arm of government and fostering national unity.

Speaker Bagbin’s leadership has been previously commended by the NDC for his effective leadership during parliamentary proceedings.
He was recently honoured as Achiever Lifetime Achievement in Africa Public services, among other international recognitions.
