Majority needs Unity in Parliament to Deliver on Promises – Pru West MP
Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Ntekuni, Member of Parliament for Pru West, has emphasized the need for unity within the Majority caucus of Parliament to effectively implement the policies promised by the John Mahama-led administration of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 general elections.
Reflecting on his experience so far during the election of the Speaker, Hon. Ntekuni expressed satisfaction with the proceedings, noting that the session had gone as expected.
He remarked, “It was not out of place, and what I anticipated came through. While the Minority tried some tactics, their efforts ultimately ended well, and we achieved our objectives. I am grateful for that.”
Looking ahead, Ntekuni shared that the full schedule for the coming days would be outlined after the successful swearing-in of the President-elect.
He expressed readiness for any orientation or training regarding parliamentary procedures, as this is his new role and he is determined to embrace it fully. “I am ready to serve and work hard,” he added.
On the issue of leadership, Hon. Ntekuni expressed his admiration for the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Bagbin , who was retained for a second term in 2024.
“The leadership of our great party, the NDC, has made an excellent decision in proposing and maintaining him as Speaker,” he said. “He is a legal colossus when it comes to parliamentary proceedings, and I was truly impressed. What I observed today is that he is a disciplinarian, and anyone working under him will be well-prepared for any challenges.”
Describing his first time in the parliamentary chamber, Ntekuni conveyed a deep sense of honor and belonging, especially on the Majority side.
He acknowledged the unity among his colleagues and expressed hope for continued collaboration. “I expect to see even more unity within the Majority caucus, so we can deliver on our promises and serve the people who elected us,” he said.
“At the end of the day, if we cannot meet the needs of our constituents, we have no business being here,” he said.
Hon. Ntekuni reiterated the importance of working together to bring development to the constituency and ensure the success of the administration’s goals.
