First Deputy Speaker Chairs Parliament Appointment Committee
Parliament has approved an eleven member appointment committee for the vetting of President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial nominees
The committee would be chaired by the first Deputy speaker, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, the Member of parliament for Akatsi South.
Speaking on the floor of parliament, on Wednesday January 8th, 2025, the Majority leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson presented the report of the Committee on the composition of the Appointments Committee and highlighted its importance in the legislative process.
The Appointments Committee tasked with critical mandate of scrutinising and recommending to Parliament the approval or otherwise of individuals nominated by the President for roles as Ministers of State, their Deputies, and other significant positions as outlined in the Constitution and relevant legislation.

1. Hon. Bernard Ahiafor – MP Akatsi South (Chairman)
2. Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah- MP Ellembelle ( Vice Chairman)
3.Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin -MP Effutu (Ranking member)
4. Hon. Patricia Appiagyei -MP Asokwa (Deputy Ranking member)
5. Hon. Kwame Governs Abodza – MP Adaklu (Member)
6. Hon. Mahama Ayariga – MP Bawku central (Member)
7. Hon. Agnes Nana Momo Lartey- MP krowor (Member)
8.Hon. Shaibu Mahama – MP Daboya/Mankarigu ( Member)
9. Hon. Alhassan Umar- MP Zabzugu (Member)
10. Hon. Patrick Yaw Boamah – MP Okaikwei Central (Member)
11. Hon. Frank Annoh Dompreh- MP Nsawam Adoagyiri (Member).
