Four Independent MPs Join NDC Majority in Parliament
In a significant boost to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), four independent Members of Parliament (MPs) have pledged their support to the NDC Majority Caucus.
This move strengthens the party’s position in Parliament and enhances its ability to advance its legislative agenda.
On Wednesday, January 8th, Majority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced that all four independent MPs have expressed their intention to align with the NDC.
While Kwame Asare Obeng, known as A Plus, the MP for Gomoa Central, has formally communicated his decision in writing, the remaining three MPs—Ohene Kwame Frimpong of Asante Akim North, Nandaya Yaw Stanley of Wulensi, and Worlasi Kpeli of Afram Plains North—have confirmed their support verbally.
Dr. Forson indicated that the other MPs are expected to submit formal written notifications to the Majority Caucus and the Speaker of Parliament in the coming days.
This development significantly bolsters the NDC’s parliamentary majority, offering the party greater influence in lawmaking and the ability to push forward its policies more effectively.
