Abu Jinapor Denies Denigrating Former President Rawlings and His Daughter
The Member of Parliament for Damongo, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, has strongly refuted claims circulating in the media that he denigrated the late former President Jerry John Rawlings and his daughter, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, the MP for Klotey Korle.
Reacting to the issue in parliament with members of the parliamentary press corps on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Hon. Jinapor categorically denied allegations that he referred to Dr. Zanetor Rawlings as the daughter of a “murderer” during a parliamentary session on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
The claims, which spread through social media, suggested that he had made disparaging remarks about the former President.
“I was taken aback when I saw the video and messages trending today,” Hon. Jinapor explained.
“I did not make any such statements, and it is entirely false. Anyone who knows me or follows my career would know that I would never speak in such a manner. I don’t even engage in cross-talk during parliamentary sessions. If I have something to say, I ensure it is said publicly through the Speaker.”
Hon. Jinapor emphasized his deep respect for the late President Rawlings, recalling that Rawlings had shown significant interest in his career, and that he had visited the former president multiple times.
He also pointed out that he had honoured Rawlings’ memory during a parliamentary session following his passing.

“When President Rawlings passed, I was the one who seconded the tribute to him in Parliament, and I spoke highly of him at that time. I have always held him and his family in high regard,” he said.
Further reinforcing his position, Hon. Jinapor recalled his support for a foundation set up by Rawlings’ children for tree planting, where he was a guest of honour.
“I have a personal relationship with President Rawlings, and I have nothing but respect for him and his family, particularly Dr. Zanetor Rawlings. I would never utter such disrespectful words.”
He added, “These claims are completely false and should be disregarded. It is not in my character to speak in such a manner, and I will continue to uphold my respect for President Rawlings and his family.”
