Pantang Hospital staff agitate for the removal of Dr. Frank Baning.
The staff of Pantang Hospital are calling for the immediate removal of the Hospital Director whom they describe as corrupt, a Dictator, and incompetent.
The staff point to his mismanagement of the hospital over the past 8 years as Hospital Director that has almost collapsed the biggest Psychiatric hospital in Ghana.
They accuse Dr. Baning of running down the hospital over the years to his own benefit.
Dr. Baning has allegedly been supplying medications from his own pharmacy to Pantang Hospital. This glaring conflict of health was overlooked by the CEO of the Mental Health Authority and the Minister of Health then.
He has also allegedly instigated the transfer of several senior staff at the Pantang hospital accounts department over the past 8 years in a bid to perpetuate his corrupt agenda. The mess he has created in this Department is evident in the number of Chief Accountants that have left Pantang Hospital after brief periods of working at the hospital. Over the past 8 years since Dr. Baning became Pantang hospital Director, there have been 8 different Chief Accountants since then.
This disappointing situation is allegedly because most these Accountants do not feel comfortable working with Dr. Baning because of his corrupt nature in trying to control, manipulate and divert Hospital funds for his personal gain.
The staff also point to the fact that Dr. Baning did not resign as Hospital Director when he contested the NPP parliamentary primaries on 2 occasions in 2020 and in January 2024.
Dr. Baning is sure of keeping his position because the current CEO of the Mental Health Authority, Dr. Pinaman Appau, is someone he strongly lobbied for using his political connections with the NPP government then. The appointment of Dr. Appau as CEO of the Mental Health Authority in 2023 went against all the rules of the Public Services Commission.
