Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has expressed renewed optimism for Ghana’s future following President John Dramani Mahama’s recent State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Speaking after the president’s address, his first in his second term, Ayariga acknowledged the nation’s current economic challenges but highlighted the sense of hope that Mahama’s speech has inspired.

“Mr. Speaker, the state of our economy and the situation in our country is unfortunate and concerning. However, His Excellency the President has brought us hope,” Ayariga stated.

He emphasized that the president’s address resonated strongly with a wide range of groups, including the youth, women, Okada riders, the private sector, students, and everyday Ghanaians. Ayariga attributed the broad support for Mahama’s leadership to the trust the people place in his vision for the nation.

“We are confident that everything laid out in the president’s speech offers hope, and this House is committed to supporting His Excellency in delivering on his promises,” Ayariga affirmed.

He also stressed the importance of accountability, calling for those responsible for the country’s economic difficulties to be held accountable.

“Crucially, this House will support the President’s commitment to accountability. Those who have harmed our economy must face the consequences,” he declared.
