Mahama’s Maiden SONA Inspires Hope in Ghanaians – Fiifi Buckman

The Member of Parliament for Kwesiminisim, Hon Philip Fiifi Buckman, has commended President John Mahama for delivering a State of the Nation Address that inspired hope in Ghanaians.

Reacting to President Mahama’s address on Thursday, February 27, 2025, Buckman praised the President for his honesty and optimism, expressing his belief in Mahama’s ability to guide the nation out of its current struggles.

“I am truly grateful to God for the opportunity to listen to the State of the Nation Address from within Parliament, and I also thank the good people of Kwesiminisim for trusting me to represent them,” Buckman said. “I am not speaking as an NDC member but as a Ghanaian who believes in our nation.”

Buckman went on to highlight the dire state the country finds itself in, citing issues like economic mismanagement, corruption, and the decline in societal morals. “We’ve seen previous governments and have witnessed the mess we’re in. The corruption is rampant, and morality seems to be at an all-time low,” he said.

He continued, “Looking at the past and present, I believe that Mahama’s victory was divinely orchestrated. God spared us from further hardship by ensuring his success.”

Buckman commended the sincerity he observed in Mahama’s demeanor during the address, noting that the President appeared genuinely committed to the country’s recovery.

“As a psychologist and a long-time lawyer, I could see the honesty in Mahama’s eyes and speech. It was clear he was speaking from the heart,” Buckman remarked.

The MP emphasized the importance of Mahama’s approach in the address, which laid bare the challenges the country faces.

“He was honest about the state of the nation, without placing blame. He laid out the problems as they are, which is essential for finding solutions. This is a hallmark of a good leader—acknowledging the issue before proposing a way forward,” Buckman explained.

President Mahama, according to Buckman, also managed to inspire hope, reminding the nation that all was not lost.

“He assured us that, despite the challenges, there is hope for a better future. This is a true mark of leadership—motivating people to rise above adversity,” Buckman said.

The MP further praised Mahama for uniting Ghanaians in the quest for national progress, urging all citizens to support the President’s vision.

“His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has renewed hope in those of us who believe in the nation and have the welfare of our country at heart,” Buckman added.
