Mahama’s SONA Brings Hope for Ghana’s Economic Rebound – Dr. Ekow Kwainoe
Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, Member of Parliament for Ekumfi in the Central Region, has expressed confidence in Ghana’s economic rebound following President John Dramani Mahama’s State of the Nation Address (SONA).
According to Dr. Kwainoe, the President’s message will restore hope and confidence in Ghana.
Reacting to the President’s statement delivered to Parliament on Thursday, February 27, 2025, Dr. Kwainoe praised President Mahama for delivering a true state of Ghana’s economy.
He noted that the economy is in intensive care, citing a public debt of 731 billion, a struggling agriculture sector, and high inflation rates ¹.
Despite these challenges, Dr. Kwainoe is optimistic about the country’s future, citing signs of improvement in the T-bill market and exchange rates.
He also commended the President’s efforts to address the energy sector’s issues, including the introduction of ESLA to solve the sector’s problems.
Dr. Kwainoe assured his support for the President’s initiatives, including the drive to cut down corruption and the introduction of a code of conduct to guide the work of his appointees.
He expressed his hope that the President will leave a good legacy for the country.
The President’s SONA was delivered in fulfilment of Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.
It outlined the state of the nation, including the economic challenges facing the country, and the government’s plans to address them.
