Government Targets Komenda Sugar Factory for 24-Hour Economy Initiative
Ghana’s Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Madam Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, has announced plans to transform the Komenda sugar factory into a 24-hour facility operating the full value chain.
This move is part of the government’s efforts to implement a 24-hour economy policy, aimed at boosting productivity, employment, and economic growth.
During a working visit to the Komenda sugar factory, Ofosu-Agyare expressed her satisfaction with the company high standards and employment potential s.
She emphasized the importance of increasing productivity and employment through the 24-hour economy policy, which is expected to have a ripple effect on import substitution and economic growth.
The 24-hour economy policy aims to leverage the immense potential of industries in Ghana to drive growth and development.
The policy is expected to create millions of sustainable jobs, meet consumer demands, and ultimately drive economic growth and development.
The Omanhene and President of of the Komenda traditional Area, Nana Okatakyi Komeh VIII said the shutdown of the factory for the past eight years had had advert effect on the economic being of the people and urged the government through Minister to ensure the factor is operational.
He said, the people of Komenda are ready to provide the needed support, especially raw material to keep the factor running.
The Managing Director of the Factory, Mr Patel Akoliya took the Minister to tour the facility.
As the Minister continues her tour of various industries in Ghana, her focus on boosting industrialisation and economic growth through the 24-hour economy policy is expected to have a significant impact on the country’s development.
