President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated the 2025 National Economic Dialogue (NED), emphasizing its role in shaping the country’s economic future and correcting the mistakes of the past government.

The dialogue, held under the theme “Resetting Ghana: Building the Economy We Want Together,” aims to foster honest, solution-driven discussions on Ghana’s economic challenges ¹.

In his opening remarks, President Mahama attributed the need for the economic dialogue to the irresponsible borrowing, reckless management, and weak leadership of the previous Akufo Addo government.

He expressed his commitment to resettling the country by cutting down expenditure, eliminating sole sourcing, and investing in infrastructure, energy, and security to support a 24-hour economy ¹.

The President urged participants to focus on discussions that stimulate growth, create jobs for the youth, and strengthen economic governance and accountability.

He emphasized that the dialogue is not merely a policy discussion but an urgent call for action.

The 2025 National Economic Dialogue brings together top economic experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to address Ghana’s pressing economic challenges.

The event features presentations from distinguished experts, including Leslie Dwight Mensah, Prof. Ebo Turkson, and Franklin Cudjoe, among others.

As Ghana marks 68 years of independence, the National Economic Dialogue represents a pivotal opportunity for the country to chart a new course for its economic future.

With strong leadership and a commitment to genuine reforms, Ghana can reverse its economic decline and build a prosperous and resilient economy.
