2025 Budget Restores Hope among Ghanaians – MP for Chereponi
The Member of Parliament for Chereponi, Hon. Alajor A. Seidu, has commended the government for its detailed policies outlined in the 2025 budget, describing it as one that brings hope to the people of Ghana.
In his remarks following the budget presentation by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassel Ato Forson, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Hon. Alajor expressed his optimism about the budget’s potential to transform the country.
He said, “This is a budget of hope, and I can assure you that Ghanaians voted for a president who truly cares about their well-being. He has shown a willingness to reduce the size of his government in order to save costs and allocate funds toward the country’s development.”
Hon. Alajor noted that following the presentation, he received numerous calls from his constituency, all expressing their excitement over the proposed budget. He emphasized that the government’s commitment to abolishing the controversial e-levy, a key promise made during the NDC’s campaign, was a welcomed move, particularly for the youth in his constituency.
“The betting tax is another significant aspect. Many youths in my area are involved in betting due to unemployment, and reducing or abolishing the 10% betting tax will provide some relief. During the campaign, the youth were excited to hear that the government was planning to abolish this tax, and now, it’s becoming a reality,” he said.
The MP also highlighted a key initiative in the budget: the creation of a Woman Development Bank, a campaign promise that is particularly significant for women in Chereponi.
“The women in Chereponi will greatly benefit from this initiative. We currently lack a commercial bank in the area, and the establishment of a branch of the Women Development Bank would provide much-needed financial support for women in their trading activities and other ventures,” he explained.
Hon. Alajor praised the government’s efforts to reduce the size of the previous administration, noting the current government’s reduction of ministers from 125 to 60, a move that is expected to save significant costs.

“This reduction in the number of ministers will lead to massive savings, which can be used to fund critical infrastructural projects like schools, hospitals, roads, and other essential services for women and children,” he said.
He also expressed his support for the provision of sanitary pads for schoolgirls, a cause close to his heart, having been a teacher himself. “As someone who has taught before, I know the challenges girls face during their menstrual period in school. I’m happy to see that the president is taking steps to address this issue,” he said.
Hon. Alajor further commended the president’s promise to provide assembly members with a monthly allowance.
“As a former assembly member, the president understands the challenges faced by assembly members. They play a critical role in their communities, from responding to emergencies to mediating disputes. This allowance will motivate them to continue their vital work for the people,” he stated.
He expressed confidence that the successful implementation of the budget’s provisions would lead to significant improvements in the country.
“If we implement these policies effectively, we will see a drastic reduction in the country’s economic challenges by 2020. The hope is there, and I am optimistic that this budget will deliver for Ghanaians,” he concluded.
