Former President John Dramani Mahama has commenced a “Thank You” tour of the Upper East and Northern Regions to show appreciation to the chiefs and people for their overwhelming support during the 2024 general elections.

The tour, which began today, saw Mr. Mahama making his first stop at the Jubilee Park in Bolgatanga. The initiative is part of a broader engagement to strengthen ties with traditional authorities and connect with the wider public.

This regional visit comes shortly after his recent trip to the Volta Region on March 6, where he assessed the impact of tidal waves that affected coastal communities, including Salakope and Agavedzi in the Ketu South Municipality.

At the Bolgatanga gathering, the Paramount Chief of the Nangodi Traditional Area in the Nabdam District, Naba Yelzoya Kosom Asaga II, delivered a message on behalf of the chiefs of the Upper East Region, welcoming the former President and commending him for his continued engagement with traditional leaders.

In his address, Mr. Mahama outlined key development projects his administration intends to pursue.

These include improvements to the regional road infrastructure network such as the Bolgatanga-Wa road, Navrongo-Sandema-Fumbisi road, and the Bolgatanga-Bawku-Pulmako road.

He also mentioned plans for an airport under a private partnership initiative.

The tour is expected to continue in other parts of the Northern Region in the coming days.
