The Member of Parliament for Zebilla Constituency in the Upper East Region, Hon. Ebenezer Alumire Ndebilla, has reaffirmed his commitment to champion development in the area, vowing not to renege on the promises he made to his constituents.

In an exclusive interview with ExpressNewsGhana in Parliament on Wednesday, Hon. Ndebilla expressed his deep concern over the infrastructural challenges in Zebilla, particularly the poor state of roads and lack of electricity in certain communities.

“One of the key issues currently facing my constituency is the road leading to the district hospital,” he said. “The hospital is only about one and a half kilometers away from the district capital, but the road is in such a deplorable condition that it poses a greater danger to patients than their actual illnesses. There have been instances where patients, en route to the hospital, have lost their lives due to accidents on that stretch.”

He revealed that consultations have begun with the Ministry of Roads and Highways to find both short-term and long-term solutions to the problem.

“I have engaged the Roads Minister, and we are exploring immediate measures to fix the road while working toward a permanent solution,” he stated.

Beyond the hospital access route, Hon. Ndebilla highlighted the poor condition of several major roads in the constituency, including the Zebilla-Sapelliga road, the Tilli-Binaba stretch, and the road from the Zebilla Customs Barrier to Widnaba.

According to him, the deteriorated roads have become hotspots for armed robbery due to the difficulty commuters’ face when navigating these routes.

“These roads are in such bad shape that commuters are forced to slow down or maneuver through challenging spots, making them easy targets for robbers. This is a serious security concern, and I have already begun engaging stakeholders to tackle it head-on,” he emphasized.

The MP also drew attention to the lack of electricity in some parts of the constituency, particularly the Tanga area, which he says has been completely left out of the national electrification grid.

“I have assured the people of Tanga that by the end of my four-year tenure, the area will be connected to the national electricity grid. This is a promise I’m taking seriously,” he said.

Addressing his constituents directly, Hon. Ndebilla urged patience and continued support, assuring them that their decision to vote for a younger, proactive representative will not be in vain.

“They voted for me because they believed I would provide strong representation and bring positive change. I am still committed to that cause. I’m working tirelessly to fix our roads, extend electricity to underserved areas, improve school infrastructure, and enhance healthcare delivery,” he said.

He concluded with a call for unity and collective effort toward development:

“Development is not a one-man show—it requires all of us. I am ready to continue listening to your concerns and working with you to bring the progress we all desire. Have hope, trust in your representative, and by the grace of God, the promises we made will be fulfilled.”
