Hon. Daniel Dung Mahama, Member of Parliament for the Talensi Constituency, has officially handed over furniture to the Kolpeliga cluster of basic schools. The furniture, procured by the government through the National Security outfit, includes 60 tables, 60 mono chairs, and 5 teacher’s tables and chairs.

Background
The furniture donation follows a documentary produced by School for Life, an NGO operating in the district, highlighting the lack of furniture in the schools. Pupils previously had to receive lessons while lying on their bellies due to the shortage.

Additional Support
In addition to the furniture, the schools will benefit from a new school block and the rehabilitation of a dilapidated classroom block. Construction is scheduled to start immediately.

MP’s Remarks
Hon. Mahama urged both staff and pupils to take good care of the furniture and emphasized that the donation demonstrates the government’s care for the people. He encouraged students to study hard to justify the government’s investment in their education.

Tour of Rainstorm-Affected Schools
The MP, accompanied by the Talensi District Chief Executive and the District Education Director, also toured schools in the district that were damaged by a recent windstorm. They assessed the extent of the damage and promised to work expeditiously to address the problems.

Call to Action
The MP and DCE urged schools and Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) to undertake minor maintenance to prevent further damage to school infrastructure.
