EC Chairperson to Face Parliament on Thursday over 2024 Elections Printing Contracts
The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Jean Mensa, is expected to appear before Parliament on Thursday, June 19, 2025, to respond to pressing questions from Members of the House.
This was disclosed by the Majority Leader and Chairman of Parliament’s Business Committee, Mr. Mahama Ayariga, during the presentation of the Business Statement for the fourth week of June, which ends on Friday, June 20, 2025.f
Mrs. Mensa will meet with the Committee of the Whole to address concerns related to the Commission’s operations, ahead of the December general elections.
In addition to the EC Chair, several Ministers of State are also scheduled to appear before Parliament to provide briefings on critical national issues. These include:
Mr. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources
Mr. John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister for Energy and Green Transition
Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammad, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation
Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources
Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Foreign Affairs
Madam Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry.
On Wednesday, June 18, Minister Kenneth Adjei is expected to brief the House on the recent nationwide flooding incidents. He will outline measures being implemented to mitigate the impact and prevent future occurrences.
Per Order 97 of Parliament’s Standing Orders, the Ministers may also lay papers, present committee reports, and deliver policy statements on behalf of the government.
Additionally, the Business Committee has projected that the week will feature debates on motions and consequential resolutions.
Mr. Ayariga also signalled that the much-anticipated mid-year budget review is likely to be presented to Parliament in July, pending final confirmation.
