Retired ministers of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, in the Greater Accra East and West regions, together with their spouses, have benefited from a free health screening exercise organised by the Lordina Foundation.
The initiative, instituted by the First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, aims to provide regular health support and free medication for members of the Assemblies of God Retired Ministers and Spouses Association. It follows a pledge she made in September 2024 during a church event.
Since the first screening in November 2024, subsequent editions have been held in March, June, and September 2025.
The programme which was held at the Ringway Gospel Centre in Accra, drew more than 140 participants. Beneficiaries underwent laboratory tests for key health indicators such as blood sugar, Hepatitis B, certain cancers, and prostate conditions.
The exercise was conducted by a team of general practitioners, gynaecologists, urologists, dietitians, and optometrists.

Mrs. Mahama said the programme had eased the financial burden of costly medication on retirees, noting that many had struggled with health expenses over the years.
She stressed that the initiative was part of the Foundation’s commitment to supporting those who had devoted their lives to serving the church, community, and nation.
“The health and well-being of our retired ministers and their families remain a priority for me and President Mahama. We will continue this service to ensure they live healthier and more fulfilling lives,” she assured.
She further encouraged beneficiaries to take their medication faithfully and adhere to follow-up consultations, emphasizing that consistent care was vital for improvement in their health.

She also expressed gratitude to the medical team for their dedication and professionalism.
Board member of the Lordina Foundation, Dr. George Selorm Quarcoe, described health and education as “the very pillars upon which thriving communities are built,” adding that the Foundation’s programmes were designed to uplift those who had given their lives to service.
The Greater Accra East Regional Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Andrews Nelson Awintia, said the initiative had eased the financial pressure on the church.
“Since the First Lady began providing free medical care, no retired minister has come to the office seeking support,” he revealed.
President of the Retired Ministers and Spouses Association, Rev. Dr. Harry Insaidoo, expressed the members’ appreciation, noting that they continued to benefit from the Foundation’s generosity “with hearts full of gratitude.”
