Chiana-Paga MP Empowers 220 Women with GHC2, 000 Each to Boost Livelihoods

The Member of Parliament for Chiana-Paga, Hon. Nikyema Billa Alamzy, has extended financial support to 220 women in his constituency, giving each beneficiary GHC2, 000 to strengthen their economic activities and improve livelihoods.

According to the MP, the initiative is part of his broader agenda to empower women—many of whom are petty traders and farmers—by providing them with the means to invest in their businesses, pay school fees, and cater for other pressing needs.

“We know it is not enough, but we are doing our best to cushion them a little. Our women are suffering and need our support. The wisdom behind this initiative is to empower them economically and ensure they can take care of their families,” Hon. Alamzy emphasized.

He further assured constituents that this would not be the last of such interventions:

“The idea is to assist our people and empower them economically. I will continue to seek more resources to provide a helping hand to our women. We are determined to develop our constituency and move the district forward.”

District Chief Executive for Kassena-Nankana West, Hon. Stephen Aeke Akurugo, also urged the beneficiaries to invest the funds wisely for sustainable growth.

Hon. Alamzy revealed that the support was drawn from his MP’s Common Fund, which he pledged to channel directly into initiatives that uplift his constituents and fund developmental projects.

Beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MP, describing the gesture as a timely intervention that will not only boost their businesses but also help them settle debts and meet family obligations. Many commended the MP and the NDC government for their generosity and commitment to improving the lives of women in the constituency.
