BCTI Celebrates SRC Week with Showcase of Talent, Culture, Innovation and Community Service

Bolgatanga Central Technical Institute (BCTI) has successfully marked its 2026 Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Week with a vibrant week-long celebration that highlighted student talent, cultural heritage, innovation, and community engagement while reinforcing the importance of technical and vocational education in national development.

The celebration, held under the theme “Building the Future: Ready Force, Innovation, Practical Skills in Technical Education,” commenced on Monday with an official launch attended by the Upper East Regional TVET Director, William Adum.

The event set the stage for a series of activities aimed at promoting practical skills development, creativity, and leadership among students.

Speaking during the celebration, the Principal of BCTI, Diana Kwakye Ayetey, noted that the week was carefully designed to provide students with opportunities to showcase their abilities beyond the classroom while fostering a spirit of responsibility and innovation.

One of the highlights of the opening day was a colourful Talent Night, where students demonstrated their diverse skills in music, dance, drama, and other creative performances.

The event entertained participants and encouraged students to develop confidence and explore their full potential.

On Tuesday, students embarked on a community clean-up exercise along the principal streets of Bolgatanga as part of efforts to promote environmental sanitation and civic responsibility.

The exercise reflected the institute’s commitment to community development and social responsibility.

The day also featured a keenly contested inter-house debate competition that challenged students to engage in critical thinking and intellectual discourse.

Students further benefited from motivational presentations by the Upper East Regional Deputy TVET Director, Gilbert Atanga, and the Principal, who encouraged them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to academic excellence.

The celebration continued with a Cultural Night that showcased the rich cultural diversity of the Upper East Region.

Through traditional music, dance, attire, and performances, students demonstrated pride in their heritage while promoting unity and mutual understanding within the school community.

Activities reached a climax on Friday with a colourful float through the principal streets of Bolgatanga.

The procession served as a public awareness campaign on the relevance of technical and vocational education and the role of BCTI in equipping young people with employable skills and entrepreneurial abilities.

The Principal expressed optimism that graduates of the institute would become innovators and job creators capable of contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s economic growth.

The week also featured an exhibition of projects and products from the institute’s various departments, providing students with an opportunity to demonstrate the practical skills, creativity, and innovations acquired through their training.

The SRC Week celebration is expected to conclude on Sunday, June 7, 2026, with a special thanksgiving service, prayers, and a thanksgiving ceremony.

The event will bring together students, staff, and stakeholders to reflect on the achievements of the week, celebrate the spirit of unity, and seek divine guidance for the continued growth and success of the institute.

The successful celebration underscored BCTI’s commitment to nurturing a future-ready workforce equipped with practical skills, innovation, and the entrepreneurial mindset needed to drive sustainable development.
