Amenfi Central MP Courts Serbian Industrial Giant UNIPROMET to Boost Ghana’s Manufacturing Sector

The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has taken another step towards attracting international investment to Ghana following high-level discussions with UNIPROMET, one of Serbia’s leading industrial manufacturing companies, during her official visit to Serbia.

The engagement forms part of the MP’s broader strategy to position Ghana as a preferred destination for industrial investment, technology transfer and infrastructure development, while strengthening economic ties between Ghana and Serbia.

Founded in 1989, UNIPROMET has established itself as a major European manufacturer with more than 650 employees and two modern production facilities located in Čačak and Kraljevo. The company operates over 60,000 square metres of manufacturing space on 220,000 square metres of industrial land, records an annual turnover of approximately €102 million, and exports to more than 30 countries worldwide.

The Serbian firm specializes in the production of highway guardrails, bridge safety barriers, traffic signs, steel structures, steel pipes, hot-dip galvanizing, metal processing, solar panel mounting systems, renewable energy infrastructure and engineering support services.

Its products are manufactured under internationally recognised standards, including CE Certification, EN 1317, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Speaking after the meeting, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe described the engagement as a strategic opportunity for Ghana’s industrial transformation.

“My vision is to position Ghana as a gateway for industrial investment into West Africa by partnering with credible international companies that possess the experience, capacity and technology to support our national development agenda,” she said.

She noted that a partnership with UNIPROMET could significantly contribute to local manufacturing, road and transport infrastructure, steel fabrication, renewable energy projects, skills development and job creation for Ghanaian youth.

“Ghana’s future will be shaped not only by our natural resources but also by the quality of the partnerships we build. By connecting Ghana with world-class industrial companies, we can accelerate infrastructure development, strengthen our manufacturing sector and create sustainable opportunities for future generations,” the MP stated.

Hon. Gyan Cudjoe explained that discussions focused on exploring areas of collaboration that align with Ghana’s industrialisation agenda, particularly in manufacturing, infrastructure development, technology transfer and workforce capacity building.

According to her, the engagement marks the beginning of a broader dialogue with stakeholders in both Ghana and Serbia to identify viable investment opportunities that will deliver long-term economic benefits.

If realised, the proposed partnership is expected to support Ghana’s efforts to expand its industrial base, strengthen local production, improve transport infrastructure, promote renewable energy development and create sustainable employment opportunities.

The Amenfi Central legislator reaffirmed her commitment to leveraging international partnerships to drive economic growth, attract quality investments and support Ghana’s vision of becoming a competitive industrial hub in West Africa.
