Sam George Makes Big Intervention for Over 6,000 Flood Victims in Ningo-Prampram

The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram and Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon Samuel Nartey George, has distributed emergency relief items to over  6,000 residents affected by the devastating floods that struck parts of the constituency on June 29.

The two-day humanitarian exercise, held on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, 2026, reached some of the worst-hit communities, including Amarnokope, Ahwiam, Old Ningo, Afienya and Lekpongunor, where hundreds of families lost their homes, personal belongings and sources of livelihood.

The relief packages comprised more than 800 bags of 25-kilogram rice, mattresses, over 250 cartons of cooking oil, cartons of canned tomatoes, sugar, Milo, milk, tinned foods and other essential household supplies aimed at easing the immediate hardship faced by affected families.

The distribution exercise was undertaken in collaboration with the Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive, Raphael Uriel Nartey; the District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Issah Adamu Vanguard; constituency executives of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC); and officials of NADMO.

Addressing beneficiaries during the exercise, Mr George expressed sympathy to families whose homes and livelihoods were destroyed by the floods, assuring them that they would not face the aftermath of the disaster alone.

He said the relief intervention formed part of broader efforts to provide immediate support to affected residents while government and local authorities work on long-term measures to minimise the impact of flooding in the constituency.

“The suffering of our people cannot be ignored. We will continue to stand with every family affected and work together to rebuild our communities,” Mr George said.

The relief operation comes amid growing calls for stronger flood prevention measures in vulnerable communities across the country, following recent heavy rains that have displaced thousands of people and caused widespread destruction in several parts of Ghana.
