Adamus Resources Limited has welcomed the government’s intervention to resolve challenges surrounding its operations, describing the outcome of a meeting at the Presidency as a “significant and constructive step forward” towards restoring the mine to sustainable operations.
The company said the agreement reached with government provides a clear pathway for the future of the Adamus mine and offers renewed hope to employees, contractors, suppliers, host communities, investors and other stakeholders whose livelihoods and interests are tied to the operation.
Under the agreed framework, Adamus Resources, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Minerals Commission will collaborate to develop a 12-month roadmap aimed at turning around the mine and restoring it to a stronger and more sustainable footing.
A six-member management team, comprising three representatives from Adamus Resources and three from government, will oversee the implementation of the turnaround programme.
In a statement, management described the collaborative arrangement as an important opportunity for all parties to concentrate on preserving what it described as a strategically important Ghanaian mining operation while protecting value for the country and stakeholders.
“This development provides renewed hope and, importantly, creates a structured opportunity for all stakeholders to work together towards a solution,” the company said.
Adamus Resources acknowledged the uncertainty and anxiety surrounding developments at the mine in recent months, noting that the operation plays an important role in the livelihoods of families, businesses and communities in the Western Region.
The company also highlighted the mine’s contribution to Ghana’s mining industry and the broader national economy, stressing that its commitment to the future of the operation remains firm.
“To our employees, contractors, suppliers, host communities, business partners, investors and the people of Ghana, we wish to assure you that Adamus remains committed to the future of the mine,” management stated.
The company urged employees, contractors, suppliers and host communities to remain calm and supportive as the agreed process gets underway.
It further assured stakeholders that it would continue engaging constructively with the government and relevant institutions and provide updates as the turnaround programme progresses.
Adamus Resources said it was committed to working in good faith within the agreed 12-month framework, with the ultimate objective of rebuilding the mine and securing a stronger, more sustainable future for the operation and the communities and businesses that depend on it.
“The focus now is on restoring the mine to a stronger and more sustainable footing,” the company said.
