‎Ghana Law Society Has Come to Stay After Successful Maiden Conference-Anatu Anne

The Ghana Law Society (GLS) has demonstrated its growing strength, credibility and commitment to advancing the interests and welfare of lawyers in Ghana following the successful organisation of its maiden Annual Conference and unveiling of its official logo in Accra.
Ms Anatu Anne Seidu Bogobiri Esq., Women Commissioner of the Ghana Law Society, described the conference as a remarkable milestone in the evolution of the association, expressing confidence in its future and its growing role within Ghana’s legal profession.

“The successful maiden conference marks a remarkable milestone in the evolution of Ghana’s legal profession and sets a powerful tone for the future,” she stated.

“The Ghana Law Society has come to stay,” she declared.

‎Held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, the conference brought together distinguished national leaders, senior legal practitioners, academics, traditional leaders and law students from across the country.

The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, represented the President at the event. Other prominent personalities included the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban S. K. Bagbin; Chief of Staff, Dr  Julius Debrah; former Attorney-General, Betty Mould-Iddrisu; Marrietta Brew; and Joyce Bawa Mogtari.

The gathering also attracted leading legal academics, including Professor Peter Atudiwe Atupare, Dean of the University of Ghana School of Law, and Professor Ernest Kofi Abotsi, Dean of the UPSA Law School.
The unveiling of the society’s official logo was a major highlight of the conference, marking another step in consolidating its institutional identity and visibility within the legal community.

Tracing the society’s origins around 2022, when it operated as the Law Society of Ghana (LSG), Anatu Anne said the organisation had grown in strength, credibility and membership confidence.
She said the GLS was positioning itself as a vibrant and viable professional body committed to championing lawyers’ interests, promoting professional development and protecting the welfare of its members.
‎The conference recorded an impressive turnout, drawing legal practitioners from across the country and students from law faculties nationwide.

The successful gathering is expected to strengthen professional solidarity, deepen engagement among lawyers and provide a platform for addressing issues affecting the legal profession in Ghana.
