A parliamentary candidate aspirant for Weija-Gbawe, John Afful has downplayed the presentation made by the President , Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on the State of the Nation (SONA) described it shambolic and unrealistic of the state of affairs.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, the true SONA is that the economy is in tatters and that the situation was brought on the country by the the Akufo-Addo government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the economy has been destroyed beyond repair and inflicted it on the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Afful made the comments in reaction to the presentation of the SONA by President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, March 8, in accordance with article 67 of the Constitution 1992, which states \u201cthe President at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before a dissolution of Parliament, deliver to Parliament a message on the state of the nation,” presented the SONA to Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NDC parliamentary candidate Aspirant said there is dispair and disenchantment among the populace and that millions of people are going through unbearable hardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“There is indeed a widespread of dispair and disenchantment among our people. Millions of Ghanaians are going through unbearable hardship and excruciating pain.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further argued that the economy is in it worst shape and the situation is so bad that the government is unable to repay the country’s debts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Afful noted that Ghana has defaulted in the repayment of its debt since January 2022, as a result of bad economic management by the Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said despite these worst situations, the government is failing to cut down on its size as well as cut down public expenditure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that, he was surprised that the president attempted to clear wrongdoers in his government, saying, “I am extremely disappointed in the President. Once again the president sought to even clear members of government who are suspected of corruption in the Covid expenditure.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He further expressed disappointment at the President for not telling the real state of the country in terms of health , education, the poor road networks and the shortage of vaccines for children immunisation in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Afful said he expected the President who is in charge of the country to accept responsibility and tell Ghanaians how come things are high, food price and fuel prices kept on rising but that did not happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I think the people of Ghana deserve better than this. There are issues affecting live, you are aware there is shortage of vaccines in part o this country,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While delivering the state of the nation, President Akufo-Addo rebuffed accusations his government has been reckless in its borrowing and spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the government has spent the money on very urgent things including building roads and schools, training young people, and equipping them to face a competitive world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Mr Afful said the president was completely out of reality and that, the so call roads constructed could not be traced anywhere in the country, and that if there were such roads, the President and his appointees would have been in a hurry to commission them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said the NDC would continue to hold the president and his government accountable to exposed the incompetency in them and his appointees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
