The Deputy Ranking of Roads Committee of Parliament, Hon Isaac Adjei Mensah,<\/strong>
has said the claim by President Akufo-Addo that he has constructed most roads since fourth republic is false.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his state of the nation address in parliament on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, President Akufo-Addo categorically stated that his administration since taking over the mantle in 2016 from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has constructed more roads than any government since 1992.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But contributing to a debate in Parliament on President Akufo-Addo\u2019s national address, Mr Adjei Mensah said the claim by the first gentleman of the land is never true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s never true that President Nana Akuffo Addo has constructed more roads than any other government since the 4th Republic.The records show and can be found in the budget statement from 2010 to 2023 financial year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kindly note that, 2009 roads performance is found in the 2010 budget statement, 2010 performance is found in the 2011 budget statement, same for all the years to 2022 performance which is found in the 2023 budget statement\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, the NPP government has squandered the opportunity to impress Ghanaians roads projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Adjei Mensah who is MP for Wassa East noted that the NDC government has the highest number of roads constructed and that the Akufo Addo government cannot change the narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While contributing to the debate, the state of the nation address, North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa slammed President Akufo-Addo for not addressing the Ashaiman brutalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some residents of Ashaiman in the Greater Accra region were attacked by personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Tuesday, March 7 following the killing of one young soldier in the area, Imoro Sherrif on Saturday, March 4, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trooper Sheriff, according to a GAF statement, was stationed in Sunyani and was found dead in a pool of blood on Saturday, March 4 at Ashaiman in Accra after seeking for a permission to visit his parents in the area where he grew up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many were expecting President Akufo-Addo to address the issue during his national address on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, during the debate on President Akufo-Addo\u2019s national address, Mr Ablakwa said the President should have commiserated with the families of the deceased officer and the innocent people brutalized by the military.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs Commander in Chief of the GAF, he should have first of all commiserated with the family and the GAF over the loss of the solider. But the President did not say a word. He didn\u2019t think that he should condemn the brutality and assure that there will be a committee to probe the killing and the high-handedness meted out to the residents, and he is the Commander in.
