Member of Parliament ( MP) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri and Majority Chief Whip, Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh on Thursday June 22, led Parliament to celebrate former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan on his successful football career.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, the Majority Chief Whip said Asamoah Gyan was undoubtedly one of the best players in the past two decades who contributed immensely to the senior national football team and made impact in the lives of Ghanaians out of the pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon Annor Dompreh, thus called for an erection of a monument in honour of the former striker and his successful career be studied in basic schools to inspire young generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other MPs who contributed to commended the ex-Black Stars striker for his successful football carreer and contribution to the country\u2019s football development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asamoah Gyan officially announced his retirement from football on Tuesday 20th June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon. Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, MP for Wa Central who contributed to the statement noted that Gyan was the fulcrum of the Black Stars team in his illustrious playing career and must be honored for his good work.
Other MPs called on government, especially education institutions and Football Academys to train the young ones on how to unlock their talents.
The Speaker of Parliament Rt, Hon Alban Bagbin congratulate Asamoah Gyan and encouraged MPS to support him by purchasing his autobiography titled \u2018LeGyandary\u2019 of which the money accumulated will be donated to Asamoah Gyan\u2019s foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asamoah Gyan, a hero of Ghanaian football whose name became synonymous with African triumph, announced his retirement from soccer at the age of 37 in a move that sent shockwaves across the football globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a ceremony in the energetic city of Accra, the prolific striker, Ghana\u2019s all-time leading goal scorer with an amazing 51 goals, said goodbye to a career spanning more than 20 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. An iconic and legendary footballer named Ronaldinho once broke words and said, Footballers learn about life with the ball at their feet. This assertion is profound, especially in a dispensation and in a world where success is often chalked up by the head and not by the feet, nonetheless, the narratives of footballers are bold statements of what one could achieve with the feet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Footballers and the football fraternity have proven time and again what one could achieve with regards to projecting a country\u2019s image and placing the colors of culture on the map.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. In the history of our game in Ghana, many iconic players have graced our pitches with the tenacity and finesse of beautiful feet. Statistics in African and Ghanaian football are replete with legendary tales of such players, and one that has stood tall in the history of our game in the recent decade is none other than the legendary Asamoah Gyan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. It might be debatable who is considered the greatest of all time in Ghanaian football, with the likes of Baba Yara, Abdul Razak, Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah, and so forth. As much as we all may have our favourites on the pitch, Asamoah Gyan is undoubtedly one of the best in the past two decades as far as the attacking department of the male Ghanaian football team is concerned.

  5. The early life of Asamoah Gyan dates to his basic school days at Seven Great Princess Academy in Dansoman. He proceeded to Accra Academy, where he started his juvenile career under the tutelage of veteran coach J.E. Sarpong. He started his professional club career at Liberty Professional with 10 goals to his credit in 16 appearances. His stay in the Ghana Premier League was short-lived, as by 2003, he had continued his career on European pitches.

  6. Gyan is the all-time leading goal scorer of the Ghana national team, with 51 goals. He represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010, and 2014 FIFA World Cups. With six goals, he is the top African goal scorer in the history of the World Cup. Gyan has also represented Ghana at the 2004 Summer Olympics and in seven Africa Cup of Nations in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019, helping them finish in third place in 2008 and runner-up in 2010 and 2015.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    1. Gyan is without doubt one of the pioneering entrepreneur footballers with a number of companies. Gyan is credited with a conglomerate of businesses that has provided employment to hundreds of Ghanaians. Studies have shown his versatility in operating businesses in various economic sectors. Some of his businesses are found in the aviation sector (Baby Jet Airlines) and the housing and real estate sector (Baby Jet Plaza). In the sector of food and Agriculture, Gyan has fed many Ghanaians with Vits Noodles and Rice, as well as quenched the thirst of many with Paradise mineral water at Dobro Nsawam.
      His contribution to Arts and Culture

    2. Gyan’s love for arts and culture is remarkable, with memories of great dancing feet as well as songs of celebration that reflect Ghana. His popular songs with the late Castro and Kofi Kinaata indicate his love for social cohesion and socialisation.
      His contribution to Sport Education<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. He launched his memoir, titled ” Le-GYAN-dry ” at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra on 30th April 2022. He has built a state-of-the-art Astro turf pitch at Accra Academy secondary School to inspire youth football at the secondary school\u2019s level. He has boxing promotion which supports the youth to utilize their natural energies to pursue the career of boxing living and to the development of sports in the country.

    4. A man with such great ability and talent both on and off the pitch deserves more, and I strongly believe his personality and vision should be studied in schools to inspire the next generation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    5. Again, a monument should be erected in his name to show our appreciation for the diverse contributions he has made for Ghana and the world at large. He is an iconic figure whose brand should be promoted to inspire other rich and endowed footballers to act likewise in the manner in which he contributed to the socio-economic development of the country.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. He may have missed the golden opportunity of not qualifying Ghana for the semi-final in the 2010 World Cup, nonetheless, he never missed the opportunity of restoring joy into the hearts of Ghanaians with his music, dance, and economic opportunity that he has offered to the youth. In any case Pele once touted that, “A penalty is a cowardly way to score,” and by extension of this, we know that a hero once played in the colors of our flag and scored on several occasions with no act of cowardice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
