An Economist, Reverend Dr Samuel Worlanyo Mensah, has charged National Democratic Congress (NDC) to to tell Ghanaians of its economic development plans for the country and stop relying on the abysmal performance of\u00a0 the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to return to power in 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to him, so far, the NDC has not shown to the Ghanaian electorates of its new strategic plans to convince Ghanaians to vote for them but only relying on the hardship out of poor performance by the Akufo- Addo government to win the hearts of Ghanaians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Worlanyo Mensah who is also the Executive Director Centre for Greater Impact Africa (CGIA) made the comments during an interview with EXPRESSNEWSGHANA<\/em><\/strong>, in Accra yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said, up till date, the opposition NDC is yet to convince Ghanaians with any tangible policy that indicates the party is the alternative to the ruling party, stating, \u201cthe NDC should not relied on the failures of the NPP to come to power.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Worlanyo, said the two leading parties have failed to live up to expectation and should not be giving opportunity to lead the country in the future elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Politically, he said Ghana needs a third force party to propel development of the country, arguing that the issues of the day have to do with welfare of the citizens and their living standard, bread and butter issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that, the 1992 Constitution also need to be review in order to reduce the executive powers as the current state of the constitution vest more power on the executives than any of the other arms of government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the current economic hardship, he said the Akufo-Addo government has not been candid to the people of Ghana and that the government\u2019s Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) will negatively affect the culture of investment among Ghanaians in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added that the government\u2019s inability to honour its obligations to the bondholders would not only kill people\u2019s interest in investment but would also affect Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and local businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He expressed the fear that local businesses, those who invested into bonds and have plans to use their coupons to pay workers and expand their businesses now must look for other alternatives as whether they joined the programme voluntarily or not it would still have an adverse effect on them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rev. Dr Mensah also called on the government to provide the public with the details of those who have purported to have signed onto the programme to enable the public and experts to cross-check on the claim, as according to him, the figures could be exaggerated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0Without giving further details, the Executive Director of CGIA hinted that he would be contesting the 2024 elections as an Independent presidential candidate to rescue the country from the mismanaged political parties, especially the NPP and the NDC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
