Professor Hamza Adam, the Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, has called for the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah to voluntarily resigned for keeping millions of dollars and euros in her bedroom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If she fails to step aside for uninterrupted investigation, Prof Hamza said, the president must compel her to go<\/p>\n

The Kumbungu lawmaker said it is illegal per the laws of Ghana to keep a certain amount of money at home.<\/p>\n

Madam Cecilia Dapaah is said to have kept $1 million, \u20ac300,000, and millions of undisclosed Ghana Cedis at home.<\/p>\n

These monies were allegedly stolen by two house helps, for which they are standing trial at an Accra Circuit Court.<\/p>\n

Speaking on this in an interview with the press in parliament on Friday, July 21, Prof Adam said \u201cFirst of all it is illegal to keep certain money, at home particularly foreign. So an amount to the tune of millions will be shocking to the bone.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will appeal to all the stakeholders who matter to investigate the matter so that we will get to the bottom of the issue because it is shocking if you look at the quantum of the amount that is alleged to be found at her residence. if we got such an amount of money we didn\u2019t need to go to the IMF.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added \u201cThat is also a wake-up call, which means we have to go down and investigate all ministers who are serving the country at the moment. What it simply means is that whereas everybody is dying that the stake is heating up and livelihoods are getting deteriorated others are sitting in gold mines. I am appealing to the stakeholders who matter to do further investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it is important the minister, as a matter of urgency, relinquishes her position as the minister, the reason being that it may interfere with the investigation process otherwise the president must compel her to resign.\u201d<\/p>\n
