{"id":12339,"date":"2023-08-08T15:55:33","date_gmt":"2023-08-08T15:55:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=12339"},"modified":"2023-08-08T16:35:41","modified_gmt":"2023-08-08T16:35:41","slug":"doctors-yet-to-find-any-medicine-that-works-as-celine-dion-battle-for-health-says-sister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=12339","title":{"rendered":"Doctors yet to Find Any Medicine that Works as Celine Dion battle for Health-says Sister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Celine Dion\u2019s sister Claudette Dion has said that the singer has been struggling to find treatment for her stiff person syndrome diagnosis.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During an interview with Le Journal de Montreal, Claudette revealed that despite working with \u201cthe top researchers in the field,\u201d the Grammy winner, 55, has seen little improvement in her health.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t find any medicine that works, but having hope is important,\u201d Claudette said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the National Institutes of Health, stiff person syndrome is a \u201crare, progressive neurological disorder\u201d that can cause stiff muscles in the torso, arms, and legs.<\/p>\n<p>It affects about one in a million people.<\/p>\n<p>Following the diagnosis, Celine Dion was forced to cancel her Courage World Tour, which Claudette said was necessary for her chances of rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI honestly think that she mostly needs to rest. She always goes above and beyond, she always tries to be the best and top of her game,\u201d she said. \u201cAt one point, your heart and your body are trying to tell you something. It\u2019s important to listen to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Their sister Linda has since moved into Celine\u2019s Las Vegas home to act as a caretaker for the hitmaker.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I call her and she\u2019s busy, I speak to my sister Linda who lives with her and tells me that she\u2019s working hard,\u201d Claudette explained. \u201cShe\u2019s listening to the top researchers in the field of this rare disease as much as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the lack of improvement in Celine Dion&#8217;s condition, the family still has \u201ctrust\u201d that things will get better.<\/p>\n<p>In May, the \u201cMy Heart Will Go On\u201d songstress announced \u201cwith tremendous disappointment\u201d that she was canceling over 40 of her tour dates due to the debilitating disorder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I\u2019m working hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you\u2019re 100%,\u201d she wrote via Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, we should cancel everything now until I\u2019m ready to be back on stage again,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want you all to know, I\u2019m not giving up\u2026 and I can\u2019t wait to see you again!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Celine Dion was diagnosed with the disease in December 2022, the singer said at the time that she had been \u201cdealing with problems with [her] health for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cBecause You Love Me\u201d artist previously had to delay her Las Vegas residency in October 2021 after experiencing \u201csevere and persistent muscle spasms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While she was eventually able to return to the stage, it\u2019s unclear when \u2014 or if \u2014 Celine Dion will be able to perform again.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Celine Dion\u2019s sister Claudette Dion has said that the singer has been struggling to find treatment for her stiff person syndrome diagnosis.
