The Member of Parliament \u00a0(MP) for Nsawam-Adoagyir and Majority Whip in Parliament, Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has dismissed the allegation that he masterminded the destruction of a billboard artwork featuring New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Kenndy Ohene Agyepong. <\/strong><\/p>\n

According to him, the accusations against him as a \u2018rehearsed strategy\u2019 potentially devised by individuals sympathetic to Agyapong\u2019s campaign, but not necessarily by the colleague Member of Parliament himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to make it clear that I had no involvement in the removal of the artwork from either billboard nor do I know who was responsible for it,\u201d Annoh Dompreh denied when he addressed members of the Parliamentary Press Corps (PPC) on Monday, August 21, 2023.<\/p>\n

The hullabaloos occurred when a billboard near the Nasawam branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank in Nsawam, displaying Agyapong\u2019s campaign artwork was pulled down.<\/p>\n

But the Majority Chief Whip who was not in the country at the time of the incident said, \u201cWhen the billboard incident occurred, I was in Minneapolis, attending the National Conference of State Legislators with the Speaker of Parliament and several other delegates.\u201d<\/p>\n

He explained that the wild allegation had compelled him to cut short his trip due to the volume of concerned calls from his constituents and friends across the country regarding the situation.<\/p>\n

A personal preliminary investigation, Annoh Dompreh said revealed that the billboard was owned by an advertising company named \u2018Kobby Creative Limited.\u2019<\/p>\n

However, the artwork\u2019s sponsors had dealt directly with a different individual rather than the owner of the advertising company. This individual, who owned the billboard structure, ordered the removal of the artwork and directed Agyapong\u2019s team to seek permission before reinstallation.<\/p>\n

The Majority Whip expressed his dismay at being unfairly targeted: \u201cIt pains me to be at the center of a controversy that I have no involvement in. My reputation has been unjustly tarnished.\u201d He cited the barrage of insults he received on social media and even on a program on Net2 television as particularly hurtful.<\/p>\n

Upon resolving the issue and restoring the billboard, Annoh Dompreh expected an apology from Agyapong\u2019s campaign team. \u201cGiven that the truth has emerged and the situation has been rectified, I believe an apology would be appropriate,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

He also clarified that this was not the first time baseless accusations had been aimed at him by Ken Agyapong and his supporters.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker, therefore, called for a more responsible approach within the party, stressing, \u201cAs colleagues within the NPP, we should exercise restraint and understanding, especially during this internal election season.\u201d<\/p>\n

He defended his inalienable right to offer his unwavering support to Vice President Bawumia\u2019s candidacy but noted that that should not lead to unwarranted allegations. \u201cWe are all entitled to our preferences, but these allegations are causing unnecessary divisions,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n
