The Member of Parliament for Shaman, Hon Samuel Erickson Abakah has said, the 2024 Budget statement and economic policy presented to Parliament by the Minister of Finance, is the best budget ever and has the solution to the country economic challenges.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to him, the 2024 Budget which the Finance Minister has declared as \u201cvictory budget\u201d is aimed at ensuring job creation and prosperity for the Ghanaian population.<\/p>\n

In his address on Wednesday, November 15, Mr Ofori-Atta reflected on the challenges faced by the country, emphasizing the government\u2019s commitment to the welfare of its citizens.
\nThis, Hon Abakah said drew parallels with the 2020 election year, which, despite being the first in the Fourth Republic with zero donor funding, showcased the government\u2019s remarkable sensitivity to the people.<\/p>\n

He said despite the COVID-19, the Russia-Ukraine war which affected the global economy, the Ghana economy under the Akufo-Adoo -Bawumiq led government has performed credibly and he believed the 2024 Budget is good enough to improve upon the economy, emphasizing, ” the economy is doing well and the cedi is appreciating.”<\/p>\n

The Shama lawmaker noted that\u00a0 it was through the government prudent economic management, there were no layoffs in the public service, salaries were consistently paid, and free water and electricity were provided, particularly benefiting lifeline consumers.<\/p>\n

Hon Abakah identified the government\u2019s support for entrepreneurship, especially the\u00a0 youth and expressed optimism Ghana’s economy would bounce back in full to stabilize commodity prices.<\/p>\n

For instance, he said through good management of the economy, Ghana had successfully navigated these challenges, completing an International Monetary Fund (IMF) review with impressive results.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe this is the best budget as the Finance Minister confirmed, We have turned the corner and in record time we completed the IMF review of six performance criteria, 28 targets, and three structural benchmarks,” he said.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The MP expressed confident about Ghana\u2019s future growth prospects and that there could have been a better way than to be labeled the budget as \u201cNkunim\u201d budget, a term signifying victory.<\/p>\n

The Finance Minister asserted that the budget would pave way for sustained economic growth, currency stability, and disinflation in the medium term, ensuring that Ghana boldly walks on the sustainable path towards creating decent jobs and wealth for its people.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur future growth prospects are certainly brighter and I\u2019m confident that this budget, the victory budget, this \u2018Nkunim\u2019 budget would ensure that we boldly walk on the sustainable path towards creating decent jobs and wealth for our people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

But the Minority dismissed the assertion and said the budget sought to impose more hardship on Ghanaians.
\nThe Minority Leader, Dr Cassel Ato Forson said the 2024 budget would excerbate poverty among Ghanaians.<\/p>\n
