{"id":14627,"date":"2024-01-27T22:17:08","date_gmt":"2024-01-27T22:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=14627"},"modified":"2024-01-27T22:19:54","modified_gmt":"2024-01-27T22:19:54","slug":"28-incumbent-npp-mps-fails-internal-contest-to-return-to-parliament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/expressnewsghana.com\/?p=14627","title":{"rendered":"28 incumbent NPP MPs Fails Internal Contest\u00a0 to Return to Parliament"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>After months of vigorous campaigns, 28 Incumbent Members of Parliament (MPs) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost the parliamentary primaries for constituencies have lost in their bids to return to Parliament.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This development signals a major shift in the party\u2019s internal dynamics ahead of the upcoming 2024 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>Among the notable figures who falter in their attempt are Collins Ntim of Offinso North, Sheila Bartels of Ablekuma North, and Adwoa Safo of Dome Kwabenya.<\/p>\n<p>Other prominent members including Tina Mensah from Weija-Gbawe and Gifty Twum Ampofo of Abuakwa North also failed to secure their positions.<\/p>\n<p>The list continues with Okyere Agyekum from Fanteakwa South, Emmanuel Anhwere of Atwima Nwabiagya, and Emmanuel Gyamfi representing Odotobri, alongside Isaac Asiamah of Atwima Mponua and Elvis Donkoh from Asebu Abura Kwamankese.<\/p>\n<p>Additional members who lost their bids include Bright Wereko Brobby of Hemang Lower Denkyira, Eugene Antwi from Subin, Ericsson Abeka of Shama, and Joseph Cudjoe representing Effia.
