Abena Osei-Asare, the Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Atiwa East, has been re- elected as the parliamentary candidate on the New Patriotic Party\u2019s ticket to contest the December 7 polls.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The incumbent polled 288 votes to defeat three other contenders who tried in their bid to unseat the hard working Deputy Minister.<\/p>\n

The three others\u00a0 that attempted to unseat Abena Osei-Asare includes, Dr Banning, \u00a011 votes, Eric Agyarko, \u00a067 votes and\u00a0 Adade Wiredu, 44 votes.<\/p>\n

The peaceful primary was supervised by the Electoral Commission.<\/p>\n

Some political pundits expressed the views that it was significant for the delegates to maintain the incumbent MP to enable the party to retain the seat.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Minister had worked satisfactorily and there was no need for any member of the party to contest her.<\/p>\n

However the party believed in internal democracy and therefore could not stop anybody from contesting.<\/p>\n

Prior to the primaries, the youth of the constituency who picked her nomination admitted the MP had a very good relationship with the constituents and the delegates have done what was expected.<\/p>\n

Hon Osei-Asare expressed profound gratitude to the delegates for the confidence and trust reposed in her and assured that she would work with everyone to ensure peace and harmony.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Interior Minister extended invitation to the defeated candidate and his supporters to join the team to work towards breaking the eight.<\/p>\n

She said the internal elections were over and all campaign camps must be dissolved to assist the party to form one strong campaign team.<\/p>\n

The MP believed that would help the party to defeat the NDC to continue the good works and improve the lives of the Atiwa East constituents.<\/p>\n
