Members of the Minority Caucus in Parliament, led by Deputy Minority Whip Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, have visited late Dr. Mustapha Ahmed\u2019s family to express their condolences.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr. Mustapha passed away on Wednesday, February 7, in India, where he was receiving medical treatment.<\/p>\n

The former Minister for Youth and Sports and MP for Ayawaso East died at the age 63.<\/p>\n

The former Minister’s under a president John Mahama administration death shocked both political and sports communities.<\/p>\n

The Minority delegation conveyed the sympathies of Speaker Alban Bagbin, the entire Parliament, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Caucus.
\nComfort Doyoe, the second Deputy Minority Whip said, \u201cThe news of Dr. Mustapha Ahmed\u2019s passing has deeply shocked the entire Parliament. We assure the family that the Speaker, along with the Foreign Affairs Minister, are coordinating to assist the family in bringing Dr. Ahmed\u2019s body back to Ghana for burial.<\/p>\n

She assured of the Minority MPs commitment to support the family during this difficult time.<\/p>\n

Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central and spokesperson for the delegation, reiterated the sentiment, promising to relay the unfortunate news to the Speaker and Parliament.<\/p>\n

\u201cParliament is keen on receiving the details of the arrival of the corpse, the burial, and the funeral arrangements, to ensure we give our former colleague a befitting burial,\u201d Ayariga assured.<\/p>\n

Spokesperson for the family, Dr. Abdulai Alhassan, on behalf of Dr. Ahmed\u2019s family, expressed gratitude for the support and condolences from the Minority and Parliament.<\/p>\n

He assured that the family would communicates their decisions regarding the burial and funeral, in line with Islamic customs, to the House.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mustapha Ahmed\u2019s political career was notable, serving as the MP for Ayawaso East which later split to two, forming North and East.<\/p>\n

He was in Parliament from 2001 to 2016. His appointment as Minister of Youth and Sports in March 2015 marked a high point, though his tenure was brief, concluding with a reshuffle less than a year later.<\/p>\n

Dr. Ahmed\u2019s contributions to public service were enormous as MP and Minister.<\/p>\n

He left behind a wife and three children.<\/p>\n
